The Cisco Femtocell Gateway offers:

• Mobile network integration to support standard circuit-switched and packet-switched interfaces over IP or ATM
• Network mobility, supporting call handover between the femtocell and the macro network
• Authentication and security for all bearer traffic over a public IP broadband connection to and from the Cisco 3G Femtocell
• Redundancy, with both hardware and software mechanisms to maintain calls in progress

The Cisco Femtocell Gateway offers standards-based design. It functions as an intelligent Home Node B gateway (HNB-GW), as specified in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 8 femtocell architecture.
